Cut up dates and nuts and sprinkle with 1/2 cup
flour from ingredients list and set overnight. Grease 3 loaf pans and 3 - 10
1/2" x 14 1/2" sheets of brown paper (grocery store sacks). Fit paper to
pans. Cream sugar and softened butter together. Sift the remainder of flour (3
1/2 cups) and baking powder together. Set aside. Cream eggs into sugar/butter
mixture, then alternately add liquids and flour mixture. Add nuts and dates.
Bake in 250 degree oven for 3 1/2 - 4 hours. Pour small amounts of brandy on cakes
approximately 3 times a week. (You can also use coffee cans instead of loaf pans -
these bake for 1 - 1/2 hours.
